The 1998 Huron Tigers finished 2nd in the Sandusky Bay Conference losing both regular season matches to the Margaretta Polar Bears. The Polar Bears were lead by All-Ohioian setter Kristin Orwig and powerful outside hitter Danielle Meyer. The Tigers countered with a balance attack lead by All-Ohioian hitter Monica Asher and her senior counterparts Rachel Sommer and Mandi Work. This matchup featured a pair of 21-3 teams.
